THE LARRY DAVID STORY: A PARALLEL UNIVERSE BIOGRAPHY

ABOUT: HOW THE PROJECT WAS CONCEIVED

This biography was conceived when screenwriter and comedian Jason Allen watched Larry David give an interview on The David Letterman Show in October of 2009.

Dave asked Larry if he still walks the streets of New York looking for a place to live if he becomes homeless.

Larry got annoyed, but then went onto explain that when he was twenty-five he was struggling, had nothing, and thought he would one day be homeless.

Being a huge Larry, Seinfeld, and Curb fan, Ray thought it remarkable that a guy worth half a billion dollars once assumed he would eventually be homeless.

There are many rags to riches stories in the United States, but this was one very few people were aware of.

In a sense, Larry's story was an inspirational one. A young comedian and writer never gives up on his dream and climbs his way to unprecedented success.

On the other hand, with Larry's "unique personality" it's not hard to see him as a homeless guy. Indeed, Larry may best be summed up as "a homeless guy with money."

Given Ray's creative leanings, his mind conjured images of two parallel universes. One with the Real Larry and the other with a Homeless Larry.

Not only could he tell the little known but inspirational story of a rags to riches "obnoxious kid from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn," but he could explore the questions of destiny, luck, and freewill through parallel storylines.

After all, was Larry David destined to become a comedy icon because he was a gifted genius, did he simply get lucky because he was friends with Jerry Seinfeld, or something else entirely?
